Night time routine

At the end of a long day my favorite moment is when I am getting ready for sleep as my new night time routine is full of relaxing tips and self care products. It wasn’t always like that , for example I spent hours on my phone before bed which was terrible for my sleeping schedule and I was feeling tired all the time so I decided to make some lifestyle changes.

First things first I make myself comfortable-I wear a nice set of pyjamas, remove my makeup and my jewellery and turn off all the strong lighting.Little things like my favorite candle burning or a cup of hot tea are super cosy and help a lot too.

Skincare routine is nesseccary.I use minimum products focused on moisturising my skin but heavy night creams don’t seem to work for me.I invested in a good Jade facial roller by Yu Ling which feels very soothing and I gently massage my face, neck and eye area for about 5 minutes(or more if I am not too sleepy). It boosts circulation and my skin looks very glowy and it is less puffy the morning after too. Then I use my trusty Caudalie Beauty Elixir which moisturises my skin in the most light and gentle way and its scent feels like aromatherapy ,it helps when I am feeling stressed and tired.Lanolips 101 ointment is the best multi use moisturising product as I use it for my lips, hands, cuticles and elbows. It’s a little bit heavy so I use it only before bed but it does such a great job!

I put my electronics away for at least an hour before bed.Instead I am reading a book, I am really old school here but it relaxes my mind the most. I am currently reading  “A Doll’s house” by Henrik Ibsen which is amazing. While I am reading I massage my face with the roller and it’s the most relaxing thing. Then I spray my pillows and covers with a new favorite product the Deep sleep pillow spray by This Works which smells divine – it contains pure essential oils Lavender , Vetivert and Chamomile and it makes me feel sleepy and calm in seconds .

It’s an organic routine that helps my mind and body to relax and get ready for the next day.”Me time” is very important and we should all make time for it.

Bye Bye Chapped Lips

Dry,chapped lips are not my thing and as Winter is coming (said with John Snow’s voice) I add extra products to my routine to avoid that.Smooth, hydrated lips are essential for “no makeup” days but also you can’t apply lipstick on dry lips, it will look flaky and ruin your entire makeup.

First step-I use a scrub to remove any dry skin.I apply a generous amount of product and with gentle, circular moves I exfoliate my lips.I often make a DIY scrub with coconut oil and sugar(you can use olive oil too, I just prefer the coconut oil texture) but recently I tried the Frank Body Coffee Lip Scrub and I am obsessed. It smells amazing and it does such a great job, my lips are super smooth after every use.I also like the branding of the product,it’s cruelty free and on the packaging they added “only tested on babes” it makes me laugh everytime and the directions “Scrub, brush, rince, lick” are so true, you will do this too trust me!

Now let’s talk about lip balms. After the exfoliation I use a super hydrating product like the Lanolips 101 ointment  which is very rich -I also apply it at night(it’s heavy for the day) and the next morning my lips look more healthy and full.My everyday lip balm is my trusty old The Body Shop Shea Lip Butter. It’s a rich but not heavy balm so I can use it all day and it’s a great base before my matte lipsticks.I avoid strong scented or colored balms as they irritate my lips so those two are everything I need.

So with only 3 product you will enjoy your smooth and juicy lips all year long-Bye Bye chapped lips!

My Eyebrow Routine

Eyebrows are extremely important to me as during the 00’s I was a teenager which means over plucked, super thin brows that never turned back to normal.

So my motto is fake it until you make it.Of course is  not that easy to create a natural looking brow and I’ve made so so so many mistakes all those “growing them back” years but now I am finally happy with my routine and I think that I start to love my brows again.

Step 1 | I stopped plucking my eyebrows all the time.I use my Tweezerman tweezers once a month and I also trim the front part a little bit so that I can create a feathered look.

Step 2 | The first makeup product that I use is the Anastasia Powder Duo in Dark brown which gives a natural, fuller look to the brows.I use the lighter shade on the front part and a mix of both shades for the rest of the brow.

Step 3 | As I have a lot of bald areas the powder is not enough,I need something more pigmented, so I use the Benefit Precisely,my Brow Pencil in no04 and I create small hair like strokes that mimic the natural hair texture.I apply it only on those specific parts of my eyebrows and I leave the rest only with the powders as I don’t want to create an overdrawn,Instagram look.

Step 4 | Brow gel to seal my hard work. The Benefit Ready,Set,Brow 24h setting gel is like a hairspray for your brows. It’s clear and as it dries it sets my brows – they stay in place all day.

That’s how I achieve a more natural, feathered eyebrow shape that suits my features and make me feel better about the over plucking phase of my teenage years.

Do you have any good recommendations that you would like to share?Techniques, products, brow artist, whatever you feel like!
